Provisioning projects are challenged both by vendor immaturity and poorly articulated business and technical requirements and expectations. As a result, the first project iteration frequently fails to meet the implicit needs of the organization. Once these needs, as well as audit and compliance requirements, are better understood, however, the organization is in a stronger position to select and implement the proper solution. Our research underscores the need for proper requirements identification, planning, and a thorough vendor assessment to ensure a successful provisioning implementation.
